One Day Workshop on Developing Assertive Communication Skills

Assertiveness is communicating oneself in a clear and direct manner by taking into account one’s own rights along with that of others. It is about communicating one’s own opinions and feelings without excessive fears. Aggressive behaviour takes only ones own ideas and rights into account. It disregards the ideas, opinions and rights of others. For this reason assertive behaviour is not aggressive behaviour and aggressive behaviour is not assertive behaviour. Assertion is a skill that can be learnt and one can be assertive without being forceful or rude. Assertion is a way of communicating and behaving with others that helps people to become more confident and aware.

Assertive communication enables people to express positive and negative ideas in an open, honest and direct manner. It allows us to take responsibility for ourselves and our actions without judging or blaming other people. And it allows us to constructively confront and find a mutually satisfying solution wherever conflict exists. The one day workshop shall include:
