For heritage enthusiasts, nothing matches the thrill of reading such book which illustrates the genealogy, history, and events in such a wonderful and yet simpler way. A gap in our history now superbly covered through this work. “G&G” is a Well-researched, well-written and beautifully illustrated book with catchy graphics, highly recommended for the genuine readers of Rajputana History.

‘We’, are not makers of history. We are made by history, and if we don’t know history, then we are like a leaf that does not know it is part of a tree. Nevertheless, if history were taught in the form of stories, it would never be forgotten.

Thank you for sending me your anecdotal coffee table book, “Rajputana Chronicles: Guns and Glories” – The thousand-year story of the Bachhawat clan. I look forward to the pleasure of reading it at length during quiet interludes, and being enlightened about this significant part of our history.

We are not makers of history. We are made by history.

A wonderful painstaking work by Cdr Pratap Singh Mehta which has been beautifully presented in the illustrious volume. A must for all Libraries and Indian homes.”

A Lucid & Comprehensive Account of the Bachhawats of Rajputana

Cmde Ramesh Reddy, Bangaluru, 9 December 2016

Pratap Mehta’s Rajputana Chronicles is a stupendous effort in showcasing the long and illustrious lineage of the Bachhawats of Rajasthan. It is a true labour of love by the author because of his painstaking research into history and delving closely into the lives and times of his eminent predecessors. Excellent photographs and pictures compliment the author’s passion in conceiving and crafting a well researched book. Truly an absorbing read and a great addition to the coffee table.

Truly an Absorbing Read

Mehta brilliantly reverses the formula of blowing the trumpet of Kings and Emperors by devoting almost all his space to the lesser known nobles from Bachhawat clan. There is a shortage of good documentation for these thousands-years, as Mehta suggests, but there has also been a shortage of scholars who know how to use it.

In a wAnupam Kher 1orld getting increasingly intoxicated by technology, social media and Pokemon Go, Commander Mehta goes back in time and comes up with a book that celebrates our culture and legacy through some really insightful anecdotes from the great Rajputana.  He takes the reader on an informal journey where he is not afraid of getting off the highways of history and taking them through the bylanes of Rajputana heritage where we find some incredible, yet untold stories of valour and morality at their most educating and entertaining levels.

It is a gripping book comprising interesting episodes of the history from someone whose ancestors held high positions during the medieval period as nobles of various rulers in Rajputana and were often principal figures in these episodes.  Lovers of heritage & culture should find this book engaging on account of not just the content but also the simple writing style.

Histories of Rajputana have been chronicled mostly from the perspective of ruling dynasties, with relatively few accounts of other communities and professions. Commander Mehta’s book attempts to fill a gap in so far as the contribution of his ancestors of the Bachhawat clan is concerned and is a welcome addition to Rajputana history and literature.
